Skins on boo

Anybody ever skin a boo backed bow. I'm building a boo backe Jatoba for the tradgang bow trade and thought it would look great with some skins. I have also thought about staining it but don't know what color to go with yet.

The Jatoba has a great look and should look great with a clear finish. Black palm accents on the tips and in the handle. the black palm will look great as well, Alot of contrasting color of black and chocolate and really light brown should look great. I might do a brownish stain on the boo that would look good as well.

What kind of stain should I use for the boo if I go that route?

If you stain, I have had good luck by scrapeing the rhine off , then taking 220 sand paper and sanding the whole length of each limb, tip to center of riser one long sanding motion.  Use Rite dye and alchol a little of each, on test piece of boo untill you get the color you like.
I have also skinned boo and used Tite bond and it came out great.

saw a "stain a long" recently showing a stained camo finish. been dying to try it, but thinking of modifying the technique by sponge painting with rosewood colored and golden oak colored stains. just bought the big pourous sponge.

skins are really cool, but i just like the way bamboo looks, its gorgeous with a natural to light stain.

What Pete said but instead of scraping the rind off go with fine sandpaper. Lots of boo back failures lately and the main culprit seems to be scraping the rind off of the boo. Apparently, unless very careful, small cuts in the fibers from the scraper were what caused splinters to lift.
 Rit dye and alcohol or Fiebings leather dye work well on boo backing if the rind is sanded.
