Hello all!

I would like to try my hand at sanding/shaping/finishing a bow and hear of some who buy blanks and do this themselves.

Who besides Dryad and Hornes offers R/D blanks with glass limbs? And who would you recommend?

Thanks
Jake

Not glass, I know, but David Knight offers fantastic value & quality bamboo backed Ipe R/D blanks. I'm just getting ready to apply the finishing coats of Tru-Oil to my firstest ever bow, built from one of David's blanks.

Here's a linky.....  Primal Need Bow Blanks

David is one of the most helpful guys I've ever met. He'll happily answer any questions, help you out however he can & be basically brilliant from start to finish. There were 11 or 12 of us building them together at the TN Classic last weekend & every bow ended up being a helluva good shooter. Much, much quicker than I ever expected (Mine's 60#@30" 66" ntn) & speed-wise compares with most glass bows I've shot.
I've got a Dryad BBO blank waiting to be done next  :D
It's addictive!

OOOOOOOOOhhhh  those are cool!  Thanks for the tip.  I think what I like about those is that the shelf and string nocks are not cut allowing me a couple more pieces of the process to screw up on..   :D

Seriously, I was hoping to do those steps myself just to add to the fun.

Thanks again

The reeeaaally cool thing, is that they're pre-tillered to brace height, wich takes a lot of the really difficult-to-master stuff out of it. Also, you can glue on your own phenolic tips & use fastflight skinny strings  :D
As soon as I get mine all shiny I'll post up some pics on the Pow Wow. The 'shape your own grip' thing is awesome & you can really get it to your own liking.
For one-fiddy, you can't go wrong!

I was wondering about the tips and FF.  I like the sound of that both for the strings and the extra step.....anything to feel like a bowyer..hehe

Looking forward to the pics!

Howard Hill offers a bow blank if you want a glass laminated bow.

Chek-Mate offers a bow blank, in a R/D build.

Seven Lakes Long bows (Mike Ballenger) also offers a bow blank in a R/D form.

The Dryad blanks are excellent. I have done four of them, so far, and every one has turned out great.

Dryad does both all wood laminated bows, and glass backed bows, too.

Mike, Jason, and Connie are great to deal with.

Seven Lakes Long bows blanks are also nice, and I have done one of these, too.

Rubberbows Archery makes some nice U-Finish bows too.

I can certainly do one for you as well, especially if it is the right time of year.  The summer months work best for me.  Chad

I just finished a Chek-mate blank for a review and I had a great time making it.

Robtatoo and the 11 or twelve others completed their bows while 14" of rain fell on the Classic. That in itself is an accomplishment.  Twin Oaks is 30 miles north of Nashville.

Lots of good options here fella's  THANKS!!

Looks like I got a little research time in my future.

Saw your review Pete, well done as usual.  I noticed on Chek-Mate's website there was a notice that because of family illness orders were delayed for now.  I hope all is well or soon will be.

Chad - PM forthcoming!
