Ok got the riser cut out, the lams ground and the dry run.  Hadn't really planned on starting till spring break but couldn't help myself.  I decided on a one piece recurve with 2 walnut lams and two mahogony lams and black glass.  the bow will be a narrow recurve at 1.5" wide.  It should be plenty fast, i have done this design one other time by acccident.  I was way over weight on one and so i narrowed the limbs.  it was fast and pretty stable because the recurves are working.  hopefully the combo of walnut and mahogony will give it a good mix of light weight and stiffness.  the riser is zebrawood with a purple heart saddle and maple accent stripe.  i'll post the rest later.

yeah 2x12.  i have to check for straightness every time and this will probably be the last on this form.  I beleive i will try the air hose system.  but the inner tube method has worked just fine so far.

ok, got the glue up done today.  My wife swiped my glue up table for a garage sale,  so i had to lay it all out on the floor.  what a pain! It will be a few days till i get it cut out and tillered.

Man that is looking sweet Sulphur.  How long do you intend it to be when finished.

sulphur

it will be 58" ntn.  Its the OMC blueprint, but narrower and slightly different taper rate.

Ok made some progress today.  the purpleheart looks terrible until you put a finish on it.  lots and lots of sanding to do.  this was going pretty smooth till i noticed just a small amount of twist in the upper limb.  didn't feel any instablity while shooting it.  going to heat it slowly with a hair dryer and see if i can't twist it out.  It shoots great so far.

Wow!  That's some pretty good reflex ya got there.  Did the twist straighen out ok?
I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!

marty thats actually the same as my one piece recurve.  not as much curve as most but its pretty quick with .004 taper.  i am going to work on the twist a little at time all week.  its not much so shouldn't be a prob.

Man that looks great. I like how you used the drop from the riser for the overlay on the back.

Nice
