Is .003 taper per inch too much for a 60" one piece with a rather radical hook? Would this keep the working part of the limb off the fades? It has about 4 1/2" deflex.

This is a glass recurve that has .040 glass on back and belly. I was going with 2 taper lams .090 with .002 taper per inch and the second taper .060 with .001 taper per inch. Any help would be appreciated.

I have never tried that much taper in a recurve.  About .002 is the most I have ever used.  In fact I have been using less and less taper in my recurves.  That much taper should move the bend out towards the tips.

I've never done .003 in a curve,but going from .002 to .003 in a d/r makes a world of diff.

I guess my worry would be mostly tip twist? Might be a nonissue, just thinkin out loud...

Disclaimer: I haven't built a curve in 10 years!!
