Anyone know a source for laminations? Would prefer oil treated if possible.

Are you looking for whats sold as Amberboo? I have been buying Amberboo laminations from kennyscustomarchery.com

Chris,

one way of tempering bamboo was to dip it in boiling oil rather then putting in an oven/heat box.

Andy,

Thats interesting Andy. I suppose you would do this in slat form then mill down? Any chance of oil residue affecting glue-up? I know I have to subject my boo to temps in excess of 1000 degs/F to achieve a specific internal temp to get the material to temper properly. Not sure how that would work with oil.

Chris,

Interesting - I forget the exact source of where I saw it but it referred to oil dipping in Japan as being the preferred method.. I don't know the science behind it..

Where did you come up with the 1000 degree benchmark? I've been googling for a while and keep seeing references to oven temps of 350 for 15 minutes.

Andy,

No Kiln. Had to build a special oven. I am waiting for  shipment and I may sell some this year. I also got some georgeous Yew which is rarer than hens teeth! Lol
