Got a bit more done to it,down to 54#@ 28",trying tio decide whether to drop a couple more or not....

Here it is on the machine...

My shop is a MESS!!

And where the string is at 28" draw, not too bad for a 60" bow I think...

The limbs are narrow on this one, brain fart in the math,so had to skinny em down to 1.25 at fades,1/2 - at tips

Thru the shootin machine and chrony 192.2fps @ 28" with a 9gpp(plus a couple grns) arrow.

I'm tickled pink with her!  :)
Stay sharp, Kenny.

That's  a good looking one- limbs still have that nice flow to them- maybe trap it a little and show us some pictures of the lams- going to look cool with some finish on it! That's the shorter one - right.

looks like you made yourself hunting bow! my new firehose got here late today, Helen says  weekends are off limits in the shop, so I'll be gluing a KennyM R/D longbow up Monday afternoon

kennym

Yep,that is the 60".

Do you guys trap back or belly? And why?

Robert, that is my very own bow for this year!

Will spray finish tomorrow, more pics then.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Looking forward to the pics Kenny, I have used Gray and Camo but I havent seen the brown cross cut!

Looks good Kenny.  Great performance and limb shape at full draw. String angle looks like it could draw close to 30"! Sure does simplify things combining the power lam and the tip wedges during the grinding process.

Kenny- The ones I've trapped are to the belly-  there is alot of info on POA as to which way is better- either way you will only lose a few #'s but the mass weight of the limbs will be decreased quite a bit.

Jason Kendall

My back is narrower than the belly, I think the glass works better under compression so I do it that way. Trapping lets you control where the limbs bend and its a good way to adjust weight but it really doesnt help with performance.

Thicker trapped or thinner square, the end results the same, but the trapped limbs do look cool!

kennym

Thanks guys, guess it doesn't matter where you trap then?

I might go a little on the back for less wind resistance if any then!   :D

Gotta get back out ot the shop and sand on her,may shoot a coat of finish after a bit!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Kenny you've got to do something to get that finish to dry faster!!!  I can't wait for the next round of pictures, lol!!!

kennym

Tips ended up fairly small....

Bow profile......

The rest....

I really like the ease of sanding and finishing the actionwood, seems to perform well too.

That cross-cut brown looks nice! Great job Kenny!

I usually don't care much for actionwood, but that one looks awesome!  The limbs laminations are great and I love how well you matched up the grain on the belly overlays with the grain in the riser.  I might now have to consider actionwood in my next bow project.

Great Job!

That looks excellent Kenny..and nice tips.  That actionwood does sand and work well doesnt it.  Is this your new hunting bow then?
