I'm looking for a 1pc r/d longbow form in a cad format. Let me know what you have.
Thanks,
Ken
I'm not a "deer" hunter, I'm a bow hunter that occasionally shoots a deer.

I have a 68" longbow with a medium d/r-design as a dxf-file. My last bow was built according to that drawing and it worked out fine.

Andy,
How did you go from your Acad to that post? What do you send to Photobucket? I plot my serious bows on Acad, filter out the riser, send the dxf riser file to my machinist who makes me my riser templates on a mill. Got a r/d design I would like to post to share.

I send a jpg to photobucket because it's very small in size. I save the drawing as a pdf and convert it with photoshop into a jpg-file.

I would love to see your r/d design. Can you send me that dxf-file ?

Here is my current form. Also drawn up in CAD. Am willing to share if you guys are...  :)

I have Photoshop CS3 unopened (on my things to do list). I will install today and see what I can do. In the meantime, I can email a dxf of my layout to you guys. I have a layout of a Kerner bow. The shelf is 3/4 above bow centerline. This means he had a shorter and stronger lower limb. Either I screwed up bigtime or this explains why my hunting buds brought the bow to me and insisted that if I was to make a hunting bow,
this is it.

Yo guys,
Working on getting the cadd files together. Been dealing with 2+ feet of snow and a 300ft private driveway. Had to have a plow in twice. Shoveling snow with 3 stents is getting old.

I have two r/d longbow files and the Pearson Varsity. The Varsity was the bow colleges used for archery class. The plan is to copy this plain "classic" but trick it out with custom riser, clear glass and overlays. My files have complete forms including hardware added as blocks which can be wblocked and saved to a library. This weekend I will send out the files.

Hello all,
From your files I assume you all are designing new bows. I have been creating files from existing bows. Anybody else doing this? It is a fairly tedious process and I would be interested in other ideas.

I start with a roll of drafting vellum with a 10 per inch grid. Next I lay the bow along a base line on paper using two right angle machinists blocks clamped to the limbs to keep them perpendicular. Next I profile the bow (not an exact science). In Cad I set up the grid and base line. Next, add points on the paper along limb profile. Set origin middle of base line (middle of bow). At each point (every inch of half inch) pencil in x,y dims. In Cad add "point" at those locations. Connect points with splines. Use offset command for thickness. Mirror upper and lower limb if possible. Filter out riser and send dxf to machinist. Machinist does not like splines. Convert riser outlines to arcs. Machinist uses cnc to make 3/8 thick micarta riser template.

Thinking about a '57 Bear Kodiak.

Mine's a new design. Mike you still need to send me some of your files. Did you receive mine?

Teagus

I sent two emails 0n feb 14. 2nd email had the attachments. I will try again Simon. I will send one bow this time. Let me know if it comes through and I will send a second.
