Cracked riser, what now?

Hi all,

Please take a look at the following pics and express your opinion on repairability.  I'm not sure what to do.  Thanks in advance.

Grind it off and epoxy on a new piece. Or you could try some thin high quality superglue and a clamp.

What JK said!, Loctite 420 thin waterlike penetrating super glue. If the crack can't be flexed open anymore to use regular epoxy then the 420 will work. I'm afraid no matter what you use the area will have to refinished if your picky.

Cut it of and sand down to the glass and epoxy another piece on. What caused it? Did it get hit by something or did it develop from just shooting?

I had the "grip" "pop off" on a Red Oak board bow because the handle wanted to bend too. I solved it by bolting and gluing the handle on ( recessed bolt head and nut ). I then put a leather grip over it. This wouldn't work on your beautiful bow though - looks nice!

Nock slip, dry fire.  There was a small knot where the crack formed...weakest link I presume.

I can see that the bowyer put an extra layer of clear fiberglass under the osage overlay.  This will make it easier to grind off the split piece and put a replacement on.  Chad

Thanks, Chad.  I'm going to contact Horne's and see if they could do the work.  My skills aren't up to the task...yet.
