Cutting in nocks question?

When cutting your nocks for the string, is there a certain angle the side should be cut at?

Say 45*

yes, before you cut the nocks you can put the string on the bow and watch the angle the loop is at, then mark the angle with a pencil and cut

Yep, just cut in back nocks and string her up.  Then you can mark the sides where the groove needs to go.

Marty, I do my nocks like that too, with a real string. But I'm wondering about the other thread, where you explain about the little Bow tip tool you use? It already has the side angles on it? This thread below. Thanks, Roy

Thanks for the info. I am in the midst of my first board bow.
But with a 9 and 4 year old, both boys, my bow has came to a halt, and I am building each of them board bows.
I guess this is for the best as their's will be bend in the handle, and mine will not.

I used Jawge's site and must agree with him it was very helpfull when I just finished my bow. I recomend at least giving his site a look.

Roy, that little jig is what works on one model bow that I build, which is between 60-64" long.  I determined the angle from previous builds.
