Dropping Wt. on laminate longbow

I just finished most of the stuff to do on my first glued up longbow. It turned out surprisingly well, but a bit heavier than intended. Bingham says sandpaper the limb surfaces with 120 grit but don't narrow the limbs. How much wt. can be dropped this way?
