I saw Kenny's post.. but I am looking at building something smaller.. I was thinking around 46" with a 10 to 15lbs draw.  I am trying to keep it inexpensive and easy.
My thought was one piece recurve - 1" wide, hickory back and belly with a ash tapper.. and just adding the uni directional fiberglass cloth to the face.
Was wondering what you think my thickness would need to be and if anyone has a plan for the riser portion for kids.. that would be helpful.
Thanks to all!
God gave you hands, use them

I have made several 36" recurves.  I used 1.5 glass and lam. one 72" glass per bow.  Best I remember they were about 15# or so.  Am working on one for my four year old grandson now, it is only about eight pounds at 15 inches, as I chose to only use one .030 lam and .030 glass and a 12" riser.

If you want an easy 15# kids bow thats inexpensive to build go buy a 1/4"x1 1/2" oak bat 4' long at lowes or home depot, glue a peice on for a handle and straight taper to 1/2" tips. I use tip overlays and back with paper or linen or gunysack. Comes out around 15# and they shoot good
