Trux Turning

Many months ago I was given plans and a template by Kenny (thanks) to try out- I also won some lams from Jake (over&under). A couple of moves later I finally found time to set up a saw horse work bench and got started. This template worked well with a router to do the form.  .I also had plans with specifications on riser length and stack thickness.  .And the form was born.

Glued up some zebra wood and leopard wood and into the f-150 oven. . Out of the oven and cleaned up a bit-  .Dressed up- .Picked one and got it sanded for the glue up.

Trux Turning

I used maple, actionwood, and elm for the core and black and clear glass. Glue up went pretty well. . Out of the press and cleaned up- . Rechecked the center with a laser after rough shaping of the limbs.

So far so good- I'll try and get more done this week- string nocks, tiller, etc. before I go fishing this weekend. Thanks again Kenny and Jake.

Very nice. Keep up the good work;)
Never believe that you are worthless .... you can always be used as a bad example!

Cool beans man!  Can hardly wait for more!
I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!

Got the string nocks roughed in and strung up- the string tracks well and there isn't any limb twist to deal with. . The top limb bends 3/8" more than the bottom right off the bat. . Right now it feels like it is going to be less than 50#'s which I was going for-or I could just be stronger than I think. With out any work the limbs are bending pretty well.

Man I love that profile! I think it is about the best looking longbow form out there.  Great job

kennym

Dave, if she comes in lite,2" off makes 5-6#s and doesn't hurt the profile a bit! I may like it even more......
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Dave you can cut it all the way down to 60 inches on that exact form.  I have the same exact form.  62 is real nice though.  Looking really good.

Are there plans for this pristine profile? or deminsions anywhere?  I sure would like to try one as well!

mwmwmb

looking good. keep us posted. I really like this profile as well. later down the road This is what i will be shootin for.

Trux Turning

Brad- I got the plans and template from Kenny- so far one of the easiest bows I've put together-

Kenny- I left the wiggle room of cutting it down if it does come in too light- right now I think it will be fine at the 64"'s

I'm off fishing this weekend so I'll have to see if I can get it finished up next week. I still have the overlays to glue on, a little work on the bottom limb plus rounding them over, cutting the shelf, and then the finish- can't wait to see how it shoots.

2" off will be more like 10#. not tring to argue, just sharing my experiances.

64" down to 62" was 5-6# on the only one we piked from this form. Possibly because of the .003 total taper.May be different on the next one.......
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Kenny I gained 6 lbs when I cut mine from 62 to 60 on this same exact form.
