How is this done?  I am not set up to spray.  But was wondering how everyone gets the black matte finish on the glass limbs.   I was thinking of using some sort of finish and then sprinkle real fine sand (1200) and then putting a few more coats on then 0000 steel wool for final finish.  Thanks

Shawn, a quick spray of satin poly will cut the shine and give a nice matte finish. I use satin spray poly in a can to reduce the shine I get with a Tru-Oil finish. It should work well over your black glass back too.

I think some guys reduce pressure on their spray rigs to spatter it. I tried it with poly by barely pushing the button, but really didn't help much,I think the poly flattens too much after spraying?

Try holding what ever sprayer you use at a further distance from the bow.  It will start to dry before it touches and leave a matte finish.

As Marty said keep whatever nozzle you're using further away and the material will matte finish.

I've been using Tbird high gloss and nocking the shine down with rattle can spar urethane.

Thanks Paul thats the exact finish I have been trying to figure out.  I saw that masterpiece the other day and that lacewood is just stunning.
