I have noticed that some use rubber bands instead of the fire hose when glueing up bows in there forms.  Is there any advantage to using the rubber bands?  Does anybody use both at the same time?

I use both at the same time.  I only use the rubber bands at the riser and the fades to make sure things are tight there.  For the bands I use Pallet bands that are 72 inches long.

I think it works like a charm and will be building all of my forms that way from now on.

Binghams tape mentions car or truck innertubes cut into 3/4" to 1" wide rubber bands.  They work great and are very handy around the shop

I have used the inner tube rubber bands and prefer the longer bands.  The tire bands are short and seem to be to loose or to tight.  The other thing is that they break in the hot box much more often than the pallet bands.  Any nicks from imperfect cutting also seem to lead to breaks.  Just my $ .02
