Please excuse the very simple question. I have a fiberglass/wood laminated modern takedown longbow. It was originally finish with polyurethane, and it is cracking away. I am going to sand it down and refinish it. I wanted to finish it by handbubbing it with multiple coatings of Tru Oil like I would do with a gunstock. Is this okay to do, or will it create a problem with the fiberglass or laminations? Thanks in advance to any/all advisors.

I've not used it on fibreglass, Just finished a bamboo backed osage and it was looking good thill some evil spirit broke it.
The good thing about true oil is it will sand back off easy enough. Would not expect it to hurt the fibreglass.

Tru oil will work just fine on fiberglass bows. I refinished a Bear Kodiak Magnum, 1962, and she turned out great. Bowdoc recommended it to me. That's like Gospel around here.

Tru-Oil is a very easy finish to use. I sand the glass to 320 grit before the first coat. After that rub it out with #0000 steel wool between each coat after it is throughly dry. Very thin coats. 6 coats is good 8 better. One of the nicest things about Tru-Oil is how easy it is to repair. You can refinish it just by rubbing it out with #0000 steel wool and adding a new coat.Wax it with paste wax for extra protection.   Bob

Tru-oil works great here also. I have foound the trick to be for me anyway is to let it dry throughly between coats. I beleive it says three hours on instructions but overnight is more like it. Lightly sand with steel wool as others have said. I then clean with alcohol to remove any dust particles and apply another coat. I will produce a mirror finish after multiple coats.
