snake skins real or fake?

I have a recurve that would look real nice with skins I have never skinned a bow before will it be somthing I can do myself or should I get fake skins ,, which is better?

Real skins are best in my opinion. You should be able to do it yourself. it is not to hard as long as you take your time.

I have done two bows with the fakes and ended up removing both of them. I just prefer the real thing.

Thanx Guys I will look for real skins and tackle project myself does anyone know what kind of skins would go good on a red colored riser it cocobolo woood i think it is a takedown 56"  Kempf Stealth bow

Probably the easiest to find will be a Western or Prairie rattles skins but most skins should look fine on your bow.

I've did quite a few with copperheads and timber rattlers.I've also did a few others but for me copper heads look the best.Lat them down in the leaves an it looks scarey.

I think the copperheads look best but all I've seen sold were more expensive than rattler skins. Paul<><

for some reason copperhead skins large enough are hard to come by. Most of the ones I find are only 18" or less. The prairie rattlers, western D-backs and timber rattlers are the most common. Water moccacins and other snakes work also.
 Pine Hollow carries a variety of skins.

It takes 3 big copperheads mosty I use 4.Same with cornsnakes.I like to try cainbreaks I know a guy that his brother would send him small cottonmouths and these would have clear marking and looked great.
