When you are speaking of vineers, how thick are you talking about?  I am thinking I might try something like this:

Or this:

Apparently they are 1/42 thick, so it wouldn't affect the weight much with my formula....

Anyone?

Mike veneers do affect draw weight but it all depends on how thick the veneers are. I make mine 30thou thick, not sure what 1/42 is. I found I could easily loose the extra weight they added. How much weight will depend on how much reflex and deflex your bow form has as it will vary from form to form...Glenn...

Weeelll,1/16 is .063" ,so I would guess around .040" to .045" You could mike one and just take the proper amount off your stack.

1/42=.02381, just over 1/3 of a 1/16.

The weight aspect of it isn't so much what i am worried about.... I know I can subtract the width off my stack, or just live with a couple extra pounds +/-....

So in a nut shell, here's what I am thinking...

Lamb kit (action boo most likely) from Kenny, riser block from somewhere, and the vineers.

What thickness does, say, Morrison use for vineers?  Dryad?  Or any other long term, high quality bowyer?

Thanks for all the repies!

I just finished a recurve with walnut burl veneers from Veneer Supplies. They were also 1/42". I measured them out at .020. I used .040 less in the lams to make up for the two veneers and the weight came out right on. The added thickness from the veneers will add weight if you do not use less glass or lamination thickness. The veneers from Veneer Supply are top quality. Good luck, that bubinga looks nice.
