This one I just finished and it turned out real nice for a field grade knife. I sure like it anyway. The blade is 7 1/2 with an over all length of 12 1/2 inches. It's 5160 forged from a bar of 1 1/2 X 1/4. I thinned it a little but it's still about .230 at it's thickest. It really feels good in the hand and tests out good in cutting. It stands up to antler chopping and still snicks little free hanging limb tips.

I'm liking your new style

I like the looks of that one a lot. Sheep looks good on it as well. Bet that one could handle big jobs.

Track

Really like the lines on this knife, and the sheep horn handle looks great.

Fantastic looking package, Lin. I, too, like the style of knives you have been turning out lately.  :)  Course, I like everything you post. Been working on any hatchet heads lately?

Looks good Lin, that slight re-curve combined with the grip shape should make it snap cut really well.
You have surely been churning out the full tangs lately.

Thanks guys. Similar to when I was on an axe kick, I am trying to make these brutes till I get a better understanding and also get some ideas for future projects.

Curt, I need to make an axe or two soon. I sure don't want to get rusty.   :)

I got to hold this one yesterday at the Historic Arkansas Museum.  I love the way the sheep horn feels in the hand.  All around great knife.

I enjoyed getting to meet Lin and he even took me in the shop and let me watch him forge a small hunter.  He gave me a lot of tips that should improve my forging.  This was my first chance to watch a real bladesmith work.  Up to now, I had just looked at the build alongs on here and tried to figure out how to get the blade from one step to the next through trial and error.  It really helps to see the process between each point where you guys usually stop to take pictures.

I got it Lin.  Thanks for the pictures.  How much damage was done to the log house?  Hopefully it isn't too bad and can be repaired easily.  I see a little fence repair in your future too.
