I'm Pumped! - Finished Bow Pics Now

Well, today I am going over to Mike Brooks' to start work on my first bow. I will have info and hope to get some pics to post here, as we go. Mike has done the Glue up for us on my first one (and his jillionth). I just wanted to say here, thank God for folks like Mike and you guys here who are willing to help newbies (even "old newbies") get their feet wet. bless you all, bless us all. Who'd a thunk it? - a ol' hoss like me (attempting) to make his own laminated wood bow ... and then  ... perhaps ... on to a special selfbow, or somthin' - If Mike don't get "gusdusted" wit me n' shoot me fust -    :eek:

Well, Bernie and I had a good day in the shop today.  Had it nice and warm in the shop before he got here since he dislikes the cold even more than I do and we made some good progress.  I'll let Bernie fill in the details but I did notice him eyeballing my bandsaw a couple of times I told him he had more wood to take off with the block plane or rasp!

Bless all of your hearts. I will be back later this evening or in the morning to post pics and tell tall tales. Taking them up to Photo bucket in minutes (had to take a couple more here at home first). Which of all those thingies, with all those teeth, in your shop was a saw for bands, Mike, and is that music bands, or rubber bands? I'm just a beginner, ya know.

My husband says that looking is OK, Bernie, and my hands are firmly clasped behind my back in true window-shopper style.

Trying my best - I can hurt myself enough with the handtools - right, Mike? LOL.
First picture is My bow Glue up from Mike. The one in the vice - the one on the wall is his and he had got a little ahead of me this week, so he could help me today. Either he or i will tell you more about his after he finishes it - I took another pic of it but it didn't show up what I wanted it to. Mine is Hickory Backed Beefwood  , with Brazillian Cherrywood riser, and Bloodwood nock overlays (I hope I got that all right - I forgot to write it down). It is 67 1/2" and we are shooting for 45# at about 27".
