My other passion is fly fishing...Spey casting in particular.  I have more than my share of really nice handmade Spey rods from some famous makers and some by me.  So I figured it was time to apply some gnarly cork to a knife.  I guess the next thing I'll come up with is a cork handle from a wine bottle as that too is a passion   :)

fly fishing is the only way I fish. Tankara for me most of the time. Love the knife and the cork handle! You make spay rods, from blanks? Anyway, great looking knife!

That is beautiful. Will the cork handle float the knife ?

snakewood3,
Maybe I could see the Osage butt end floating down river  :)

Great knife, Jeff. Cork makes a nice grip that does not slip easily, and it looks good too. I love flyfishing. It is to fishing what traditional archery is to archery. Naturally, many here will favor the more traditional and challenging method of fishing too.

O tough is the cork?  know that on some of my fly rods(cheeper ones) that the cork is pretty brittle and wear pretty quick. I'm wondering if it would last good on a working knife??
It is really nice non the less!!

David,
It probably wouldn't hold up to real abuse. I use my fly rods hard but don't abuse them and haven't had to replace any handles.  Except for the one a porcupine chewed

Now if you want something that stands up to abuse & is a knock around knife...Rubber Horse Stall Mat handles.  Trade off is they ain't pretty but you don't worry about anything destroying 'em!  That's what is in my hunting pack  :)

Love the cork handle and the profile of this one. Never had any problems with the cork on any of my rods so I can see it being great.

Very nice.  Dry fly fishing is an obsession of mine as well.  Can you take some top down/bottom up shots to see the osage/cork transition?

Thanks for sharing

Beautiful knife!  Like the combo on the handle!

Rubber Horse Stall Mat handles, I like that. I'd like to use that on my next knife if I can find a piece small enough. Don't have a horse so I don't need a piece the size of a stall. Thanks for the tip Tippet!

Tique.  I just bought one for an arrow backstop. How big a piece do ya need. I'll try to cut a hunk off for ya.
