Sheep horn and 1084

Just finished this one up for a bowyer friend for partial payment on a take down longbow. I tend not to make very many full tang knives but he requested that it be full tang. This was my first attempt at a tapered tang. I forged some of the taper into the tang and then finished it up on the grinder. Handle is sheep horn with black liners. Steel is clay quenched 1084 from Aldo. Still need to put an edge on it and make a simple sheath.

I have sold a few knives but usually just wind up carrying them for a while, skinning a few deer with them to test out the edge geometry and edge holding ability, and then passing em on to a family member or friend. I only have time to make a few knives a year and usually its a spur of the moment thing. If I do happen to knock a couple more out before fall I would be interested in selling so I can re-stock my supplies. PM me and maybe we can work something out

Chris I only took this knife to 320 because I knew it was going to be a user and didn't want to spend a whole lot of time polishing it. I used Rutlands furnace cement for the 'clay' and quenched in Parks 50. Etched in FC/water (about 1:1) then hand rubbed with felt pad and mineral oil and 2f pumice powder. Next moved up to 4f pumice and then did a final polish with some type of metal polish paste. (light blue stuff, don't recall the name) I went into the etchant maybe 3 or 4 times total to get the results I wanted.
