sometimes doing these very simple, unencumbered hunters is a nice break from the bigger more labour intensive stuff.   This one is headed to a Tradganger in PA.

1095 & Curly ash,  belt finished,  when i manage to make myself a hunter I like them similar to this one-

Are you kidding me!?  That knife is outrageous.  I think that is one of the nicest I have seen.  Nice job.
To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target

Good one Matt, its ready for some  serious work!

I love the wood in the handle.  Did you use aqua fortis to stain it?

thanks all,  i used some Brownells stain on it.  Normally I like Chromic Trioxide on any "white' wood with curl, but I was out.

Steve Nuckels

Matt, that is a great looking knife!  Big or small you can do it all!

thanks yall,  im going to start doing alot more "small" knives.  Still have a soft spot in my heart for the big Bowies,  but really want to focus on some  sharp, tough, affordable hunters.

Looks great Matt. I am glad you shared this one. I am glad your posting some of your work here. I have a fondness for Bowies also but it's hard to beat this size for all around usefulness.

Very nice Matt, sometimes simple is beautiful.

I like it a lot, Matt. Did you stain the ash or that the natural color?

GRAYBEARD

So quit taking pictures and send me my knife already! You're killing me!
Matt,
It is beautiful and I can't wait to use it. I'm glad you felt it worthy of showing it off a bit.
Thanks,
Jed

Pac'em,  i hit it with a coat of medium brown/red stain from Brownells.    Jed,  my sheath man has it now,  making a real nice lined pouch type sheath for it.

Matt, I think that's a good idea.

thanks Karl,  after doing big Bowies, Choppers, Fighters almost exlusively for 15+ years,  the small knives seem amazingly easy, especially on my wearing hands, arms etc.....

Now that is my knd of knife, Matt! That wood is outstanding and the blade is perfect for a hunting knife to carry in the field. I would love one exactly like that. Lucky Jed!
