This is a hunter I just finished, 5160 with S.S. fittings and stain burl handle,(Ray Kirk sent me this wood and not sure what burl it is) I put a little file work on the spine> Let me know what you think, The only think i can see is the front pin is a to high.

Thanks for looking Dana

Very nice Dana. Really like the overall fit and finish of the knife, especially the file work and polish on the spine. Did you get your micrometer out to measure the front pin location....??...lol.
cheers, Dale

Dale no micrometer, I had rough in the handle and then pinned it then I decided to take the back down a little. It's off about a 1/16" it's not bad BUT it's not right.

Dana, I bet the next one will be right....! Still, a very nice knife.  My son keeps telling me that we are our worst critics.
cheers, Dale

Great looking knife indeed... but since it is not perfect, you just send it to me... I live so far, that no one will see it again! lol

Bodork

Duh! Says in the title it's a 9" knife!    :)

That looks great. It's hard to tell in the photo- is there a thin brass spacer? I like your new mark. What made you decide to go to etching versus the hard stamp?

Gables, its not brass, it is a black spacer, bad photo, I have had problems with my press in the past, (moving, stamping harder on one side), so i had these made and Chris (BigRedArcher)made a eching machine for me. i can just Mark it or Etch it, this is just a Mark, i do this with salt water.
Thanks Dana

Looks good to me Dana.

Dale is right, after we spend so many hours with one of these knives we know every little detail. Sometimes we just need to forget about some things...   ;)

What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.
