Chris has been working hard to get a knife made to his strict standards. This is the first that he has had photographed. I think he done really great on it. Bear in mind he files his blades to shape for the most part and hand works the handles too. I think this knife is very close to meeting the JS level of workmanship. Actually, it probably would pass with no problem.

Keep in mind that this is one of Chris' very first knives. His eye is developing fast and he'll soon be turning out some even nicer. He catches on pretty fast.   ;)

Thanks for all the kind comments fellows. I have learned much here and more from Lin. I am very thankful that you fellows have been willing to share info and advice. I didn't show this one to Lin until it had just a little finish work left because I have been focused on a more ambitious project that I will share as soon as it's done. Lin thanks for everything, I am glad that I met you 16 years ago.

That's a great looking knife, Chris.  That photo shows just how good a knife can be made without expensive belt grinders, etc.  Someday you should to a WIP to show some of your techniques for those out there without all the power tools.  Looking forward to that "ambitious project"  :) .

Chris, it's obvious you have talent and the desire, and count your self very lucky to have a mentor!

Great work, and I think every one should make several knives with hand tools!

Really, thanks for all the kind coments. Yes there is some Rhea influence.  He is a great knifesmith and his designs are versatile and functional. In my opinion if there is a influance the can be recognized in a persons work it's best if it's influenced by a Master Smith. So while my work is far from Lin's  in calibre it is a huge complement, thank you.

Kevin will you be at the Little Rock Show? I would love to talk with you and see some of your fine folders. Love those knives.
