I have an older knife with a rosewood handle that needs some TLC.  Is there any particular oil that would be best suited for treating the wood and providing some resistance to the elements?
Tru oil, boiled linseed, etc.,?

I used Liberon Finish Oil (close to Danish Oil) on a Cocobolo Rosewood knife, and it turned out great  :)

You can also use a mixe, 1/3 boild linseed oil, 1/3 spar varnish, 1/3 mineral spirit. mix well and apply with a rag, keeping the wood wet for a few minuts, then wipe dry and let cure over night before an other coat!! I use that on most furniture project I make and it is a realy good finish!!
When ever you use oil, be sure to dispose of you rags properly, don't put them in the garbage all balled up, they can ignite on them self...

The top knife in this pic was rosewood finished with 4 coats of Tru-Oil, 00 steel wool between coats.

Very nice Rusty!  Those look great.  That's the kind of finish I'd like to have.  Thanks for the help.  What is the drying time between coats?

I didn't really check the drying time as I only work on the knives in the evenings and did one coat per day.  I'm sure someone here can add more info about Tru-Oil.
