Knife sheath

One of my favorite hunting knives fits pretty loose in the sheath. I have tried getting it wet and drying but hasen't done much good. There is enough handle sticking out to put some sort of clasp but I have never done anything like that before. Any ideas?

If the welt is wide enough inside, you may be able to run another line of stitches in the grove next to the existing stitches. Do a pinch test with your fingers to see if this would tighten up the sheath.
Also match the threads per inch and type of thread so it looks original.

Try soaking it in boiling water. This should cause the leather to shrink. Just be careful not to soak it too long or it will shrink too much.Try a search on Primitive archer or Paleoplanet for Boiled Leather for more detailed instructions.

Yeah I found a thin peice of leather at work that looks like what I need. I'm going to glue it in this week. Thanks for all the tips guys. Rob

Posting earlier motivated me enough to glue the leather inside the sheath. I have to say it fits perfect now! I can even shake the crap out of it upside down and no movement what so ever. Now I'm torn between this one and a benchmade I bought to replace it. Thanks again. Rob
