Ive worn out a stone on this blade I have and am having some difficulty getting it to where I want. Do I need a diamond hone? The last time I got it sharp it was deadly but Im having trouble with it this time. What are my options? Thank You, Izzy

I have had trouble with 5160 a couple times, I had to take it back to the belt sander with 600 grit and get the foil edge then I use a paper wheel to get it razor sharp, I know other guys use stones but I've always use the paper wheel. Hope this helps some

Izzy,
D2 is good steel, but should not be that different than others as far as sharpening. If you are not getting good results with the Arkansas stones, move back to the diamond stones and get a burr, then refine on the Arkansas. If you still have trouble, holler back and we'll look at what you got. Lin
