I just wanted to take a second and post pictures of the set of knives I recently completed.  The blades are made from a set of leaf springs that I found at my grandfather's old barn.  The handles are made from a mesquite tree from our property that was struck by lightening.  They are not perfect, but I'm proud of them.  My thanks goes to the members here who generously post their knowlege.

Nice work. Perfect knives have their place, and so do antiqued or rough knives.

I like your "no-nonsense" approach at knife making and sheath buildin.
They look like working tools.
VERY NICE!

Great work! I have a set of leaf springs myself, just havent gotten to them yet. How did they work for you? Any tips or warnings?

( I like that 2 knife combo the best!)

mulie

Folks,
Thanks for the kind replies.

4runr... the plain working man style fits me well.  I'm a vanilla kind of person.  :)

Caleb0100... The only thing I can offer is that most leaf springs are made of 5160 steel.  Do a seach and you will find lots of good information here on how to work it.

They look great! Not surprised, this man is gifted in many ways!

Bobby Urban

as long as they are heat treated well and hold an edge those are everything needed in a knife.  I really like the primative look.

Although I truly respect the skill, craftmanship and ability of those that make perfect shiny impecable fit and finish takedown hidden tang blades on here - my preference to carry are those like yours that have the old, used well worn look with a full tang.

Scott from Wisconsin comes to mind looking at your knives.

Great job - Bob Urban

Awesome set of knives.  Its cool how you used your grandads material also.  They are something that can be passed down for generations.

Potoo

They are nice! A lot of work but obviously very rewarding.
