I need a source for individual small files. I have gone through a couple of sets of the small Nicholson needle file sets but want to now buy a few of the same shape.

What kind of file do you use to file out guard slots?

Could I put a 4 flute end mill in my drill presto to bust out webbing in guard slots after drilling a series of holes? I know there should not be lateral pressure on a press but would an end mill grab and clean out the thin webbing if attacked straight down?

Try 'Grobet Habilis' files medium teeth.

I cant address the drill question. I would use a mill or a file.

I drill mine with my drill press, about 4 holes, then put it in a vice up and down. Take a 1/8" drill bit and work it on a angle until the center is gone. Then I take my needle files and file to fit, I've tried the mill bit and it seams to grab the sides, so until I get a milling machine, I'll just file them
hopes this helps

Gables I have done it with drill press before getting a mill,it will work, its hard to keep end mill tight, also hard to get proper speed.
You might try two flute also,it worked better for me.
