Well, here it is-everything's finished.  Clay made the knife possible and another Tradganger, Matt Hayes, made the sheath possible.  Matt's been doing all kinds of leatherwork for years and was incredibly generous with teaching me the basics of making a decent sheath.  I can say with certainty that without Clay and Matt, the knife and sheath would be much worse  :) .  Thanks so much to both of you for your help.

Stamped my dad's initials on the back.  He's coming for Thanksgiving-gonna have him help me sharpen it, then show him the sheath.  He still doesn't know any of it's for him...until he sees his initials.

I had an awesome time learning while making these.  Can't wait to start on some more.

Thanks for the positive comments everyone.

Froggy-
You're absolutely right.  My dad's the best man I've ever known and I try to enjoy having him in my life as much as I possibly can.  Hope to get some good pics when he figures out it's for him  :) .
