Well, All pumped up with inspiration from the hammer-in, I forged a blade.

5160 Steel, 7 1/2" oal, 4 " blade, whitetail antler shed scales with black spacers, brass pins poorly peened, edge quenched.

I really like the slight recurve.
Should be a nice cutter.
Everything about it just works. Nice job.

When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

well I really appreciate it guys. It sure feels like an accomplishment. I hammered in all the shape profile other than the recurved edge and the clipped

It's a little on the heavy side but that's because I was being stubborn about keeping my hammer marks.

I was really inspired by the recurved edges I saw on the amazing chopper/bowie/camp knives I saw in Clyde.

Good job Scott,
I knew it wouldn't be long.Looks like you put the time at the hammer in to good use.way to go!   :clapper:

Very nice, you did a good job working with that antler, it's not easy to get whitetail to work on a knife handle.

No... it is indeed not. At least when working em into scales. I really like the look of antlers as scales rather than hidden tang... But it is hard to get even thickness on both sides. But I will be up to the task again soon...

Nice!  I like the lines of that knife.  Looks like a real "using" blade!  I'd be proud of that one!
