What do you guys think about using a charcoal chimney starter to anneal a farriers rasp?  I've got several of them, and would like to get into knife making.  It would be great if I didn't have to go buy a bunch of stuff to do it.  Any suggestions?

You can heat the knife blank or moderate size steel bars in a charcoal barbeque.  The cooling process is easy enough you can get vermiculite in the gardening section of major stores and put it in a metal garbage can.  Just stick the hot steel in the vermiculite and let it cool.
