A small hammer, file, too large a pair of side cutters, three chisels total and some brass wire for the first time out.  The chisles were made from hack saw blade that one of our fellow Ganger's hooked me up with!

I plan to get some silver wire soon.  A pair of magnifying grasses would be helpful too.

640 Pixels maximum width.  VM13

what are the file and side cutters for?

do you just use the different width chisels at an angle to cut the channel? also is the wire just held in by friction or do you glue it in?

The side cutters are to cut the bezel wire to length.  The different width chisels are held perpendicular to the handle surface when used.  You choose the chisel width you use based on the radius of the curve you're trying to make.  Pick a chisel, put it on your line and push or tap it into the wood.  Pull it out, move it down the line and repeat, making sure to overlap your previous cut.

I still cringe when I see those hacksaw chisels, but they do work very well and you can't beat the price!  :)

The flat wire is called bezel wire and is available at jewelery supply places online.
