How's everybody doing? good I hope, I'm making a knife and I'm using buckeye burl for the handle and I want a nice finish with a nice shine and durable. I was just wondering what some of you guys use?. Thanks alot and I wish everybody a good holiday. - Rod
Everything has a place and purpose, and when it gets out of place, it's loosing it's purpose. (my Grandpa )

I've never used buckeye, but for most woods, I like Birchwood Casey gunstock filler/sealer followed by their tru-oil and then some kind of carnuba wax.  You can find the Birchwood Casey stuff at most gun shops.

Thin super glue works great.

I've used several coats of Formby's Tung oil finish on highly figured woods with excellent results.
I reckon so

is the burl stabalized? if it is just sand and polish out, it doesnt need a finish
anything can happen on a texas friday night, if you dont mind your manners you dont mind a fight

I've used a lot of buckeye burl and it is very soft if not stabilized. I would treat it with some Minwax wood hardener after I had the scales pretty close to final shape. I use Danish oil on my handles...also have use TruOil. I try to get buckeye burl stabilized whenever possible. Good luck and post pics!
'cuz deer huntin' ain't catch & release!

Super glue as Kenny mentioned works super. This one here is 7 layers of loc tite super glue wet sanded starting with 600 and working down to 2000 grit and then polished to about medium gloss. The toughest finish you will ever find bar none.bowdoc
