Well I've been getting very little time to play on TG or in the shop for a few weeks now but finally getting caught up a little. Anyway I've had a few projects I hoped to get done before the Big Sky Hammer-in coming up this weekend. Long story short I finished the third one yesterday evening so I could take em to the little show that goes along with the Hammer-in. You guys get to see em first...

5" damascus blade, guard and butt cap with MT elk horn

4 1/4" damascus blade, guard, and cap. Smooth ground gemsbok horn, carbon steel spacers and hippo ivory.

And finally a 3 1/2" damascus blade and guard with some very cool micarta.

Sweet stuff Doug! Love them all!
Do you heat treat the damascus guards and caps before you etch them or does it make a difference?
'cuz deer huntin' ain't catch & release!

Doug, those are real classy looking knives.
Tell me, that last micarta, you started with brown micarta and it turned out amber, right?

Thanks everybody, I'm looking forward to getting these critiqued by a Mastersmith or two this weekend.

No I don't heat treat the guards and caps SW.

It started amber and ended amber Dan  ;)

Yep Lin, Josh is a good kid, halfway decent knifemaker too  ;)  I'll sure be all ears and camera this weekend. Too bad you couldn't make it up...

Thanks again,
Doug

I think they call that natural colored micarta. I've seen it on a few knives. Thanks for the heads up Doug!

Doug, Those are some nice knives.  You do great work with damascus.  I still look at the one you made for me every day and grin.  :bigsmyl:  Can't wait to get it bloody.
