This is an interesting blade that I picked up in a bulk buy of blades. I thought it was an old file at first. I tried some bluing and it wouldn't take so I guess it is stainless, 440 maybe. I'm sure it is an overseas knife blank but has no markings, it appears to be well made, takes an edge and holds it good. Anyhow... Spalted Pecan scales, copper pins and lanyard tube. Sheath is 9 oz leather handmade and tooled. Blade is 3.25" OAL 7.75" 1/8" Thick.

It may just still be oily from the quench, if it won't blue. If you want to check & see if it's stainless (highly doubt it) try a magnet. 90% of SS is non-magnetic.
I reckon that blade will be W2 (normal file-steel) looking at it.

Spectacular job, by the way! I really like that one  :D

Cleaned it with acetone and did some belt sanding on the tang area to flatten and smooth it....still no blue.   "[dntthnk]"  Pretty anyways! LOL!

5 coats of lacquer. The spalted pecan wasn't stabilized so it kind of sucked it up. LOL!
