I don't use wax because I read that over time it will make the leather crack. I use Neatsfoot oil and finish up with mink oil.
'cuz deer huntin' ain't catch & release!

This is the mixture that I use.  One note though, don't use the round style crockpot, get the rectangular one like shown in this link.  My friend and I are using this mixture with the paraffin.  I think the beeswax would be better.

Kevin this is the mixture I used on your sheath but because of the size of the sheath I had trouble fitting it in the crock, so I poured some into a bread pan, but I think it cooled off too much.  I have used it on some smaller sheaths which fit in the crock and they turned out really nice.

I use neatsfoot oil on all leather and especialy if yoy die it becaus the die takes all the oil out and dries the leather. after the oil, if I want it shiney I use Super Sheen

thanks guys
im not much at leather work
and figured if neatsfoot oil ,mink oil and snow seal wos good enough for a 200.00 pair of work boots it was good enough for a sheath
so the wax is only another way of waterproofing
nick
thanks for the link i will have to try the wax sometime

Yep, Mink oil and/or sno-seal is all I've ever used on finished leather.
I reckon so

I had a master saddlemaker tell me to use vegatable oil right out of the bottle. Until then I have always used Montana pitch blend.
