Just thought I would share the great trip I was blessed to share with my Wife Lois, as well as our two sons Jesse and Joey. To spend time with your sons hunting elk in the mountains is a blessing I will never forget. To get meat on that trip is only a small ( but nice) part of it.
Man I am so lucky to have a wife that loves the mountains as much as I do . You should have seen the look of my oldest sons face when he got within 50 yards of a 5x5 bull at a wallow but couldnt get any closer, priceless.

You really haven't hunted the old fashion way until you've done it from one of these Indian houses.(The Tipi) "Glenn ST. Charles"

Thanks guys , yes I cant express what a joy it was to spend this time together , yes they grow fast , I still cant believe my oldest ( joey ) is 16. Seems like just the other day I was carrying him in a backpack at shoots.
Arrow in the tree is the one I pulled from the chest of the bull , I didnt want to loose it while doing all the skinning and packing. Actually while I was tracking the bull it was the first thing I saw sticking out of a big brown mound (elk) in the dense huckleberry brush, white feathers.
Funny , I spent half my life trying to get a big bull and could never do it , finally get to a point in my life I realized it didnt matter and I got one. Still does not compare to the joy I felt hunting with my family in the mountains of Idaho.
The bow is an old friend of mine named lightning , osage sinew takedown. arrow was a fir selfnocked with ebony footing tipped with a razor sharp Magnus 160 grain.
Like I said earlier , you should have seen the excitement from Joey after getting to within 50 yards of a bull thrashing in a wallow . He said he tried the Jedi mind trick to get the elk to come closer but found that wont work on elk.
Charlie, someday.
