Thom, I went back out with the NM Classic last night.  We're getting along much better now!  My shoulder pain was affecting me with all my 50#+ bows.  It was like I was hitting a wall at about 24" of draw.

I'm not sure why it's been extra aggravated lately, but I'm glad it's abating.

There are definitely less of them made but I think the bowyer who built the bow would influence value more significantly. Often times leftys sell for less due to a smaller buyer pool unless you get a few competitive buyers then the highest bidder wins..

Are any of you Hill guys located near northeast Missouri?  I would really like to try out some Hill-style bows before buying one (although maybe I will hate them, which would save money!).  I was intending to go to the Compton's event in KC this year to see how the different grip types felt and maybe get to shoot some bows, but the plans fell through.  Anyway, PM me if you are nearby-ish and wouldn't mind someone paying you a visit to try your bows!

It wasn't my decision. Slim Girl saw Mudd, and it was love at first sight.

Got a new to me Great Northern Traditional Longbow today, 68" 46@28". Shot it a few times seems like we'll get along really well, seems to be very good shooting bow no handshock to mention and very quiet. Truth will be told when surewoods are complete and bareshafting is done. Hopefully will be done next day or two,(between ballgames 3 boys playing).

I shoot Hill bows 3 under.  I have had them tillered 3 under.  I have my nock set a little higher than dead level, maybe 1/8" to 3/16" above level.  One bow is by HHA the other is by Dave Johnson.  I have another HHA bow that is split and haven't fooled with it much in a while and have not tuned it to 3 under.

I shoot mine 3U. If I bareshaft it ends up at 3/8" but then after fletching them I  typically have to raise my nock up to 5/8-3/4".

Darin,
I have always been interested in the GN traditional but you don't hear much about them. Pics please!!!!
I have heard they have smallish grips like toelkes (which I see you own also). I need and prefer bigger grips so I have never ordered one

Rossco, I have the same suprise arriving to me from I believe the same bowyer.  I just heard last night that my bow is getting the finish coat applied this week and I should have it by first of next week.  It has been a long wait (ordered back at the end of June), but I think it will be worth it!  Pictures of your suprise are required! LOL.

Brian they do have the small grips actually maybe a little    more so than the Super D. heres a comparison.  top bow being the Super D.  One thing is for sure they are both fine bows and share a lot of the same shooting characteristics. Great Northern 4 lams of osage and Toelke bamboo. Time spent with each will tell!!!!

Those are some fine looking bows. Thanks for the pics and explanation. I've always wondered how an Osage lam bow would shoot

Speaking of fine bows, my bud Paul (Mushin here on TG) just refinished his red man along with some other bows.
I know he did some grip work and cut it closer to center, and he knocked off 2" from the bow and did some tip overlays. To say I'm impressed is an understatement,

Has anyone ever ordered a HHA Bow with regular bamboo core(2-3 lam) and the outer lams carmalized boo? I love the look of the white core boo wood and dark outer lambs.....I thought about getting a half breed or something but I wanted the full potential that an all boo bow affers. Does the different wood really matter? would mixing the different boo effect it?

I am new to Trad Gang but I'll never forget as a kid walking into my local library looking for some books on indian lore or stalking or anything to do with the wilderness....and long and behold there on the shelf in the huntin section was a book called "Hunting the Hard Way"....After reading it I fell In love.....I love Hill style bows.
When I got out of college I decided that before I got married I would get me a Howard Hill Bow....Unfortuantly I am left eye dominant so I have made the decision to sell my bow and hopefully order a lefty.

Remember when?  once on here we talked about getting a special type bow made for us tradgang Hill lover's, something like the Captain did for the Longbowmen, anyone remember?

Brianlocal3

Oh I remember that Todd!!! We need someone to take the reigns and lead the endeavor
