Does anybody have any experience with this camera?  I am looking at a Canon 10D body with a 28-80mm lens, 80-200 mm lens and a 22-55mm lens for around $300.  Good deal...  Bad deal...  Comments anyone...

it reallky depends, has the camera sen a lot of use? or very little? if very litte then i'd say it was a great deal, otherwise probably not, since the shutter is liable to crap out. but the 10D is a great camera. and if all those lenses are canon brand lenses i'd say it;s an awesome deal. personally I shoot with a canon 30D but then again I do photography as a side job so I was able to justify the cost to myself.

The camera has been used, the individual selling it is a photographer for a magazine.  The lenses are all low-end Cannon lenses.  I have been given the opportunity to test drive it over the next couple of days so I guess I'll get a feel for how well it's working.

careful, slr's need the shutter replaced every so often, the 10D shutter is rated for i believe 50,000 shutter actuations.

Duly noted.  Any idea how much that kind of maintenance might cost?

Seems to me like it might be worth the risk...

I paid 1700 for mine used a year and a half ago...but that was with a lens that goes for 1400 new. For $300 your not hanging too much out there.

I have a cannon 10 D for my fun time, I paid $1500 for just the body, but that was brand-new, I think I purchased it in 2001, and I never had any trouble with it.  It is a great camera, hi and lenses all the way from 14mm to 600mm.  I enjoy it.

I sold all my hasslblad equipment, and purchase and just for fun.

I use the 20D and love it. The way I see it for $300.00 you can't lose as long as it is in working order. The lower end lenses are not the best but will suffice and should serve you much better than say $300.00 worth of pocket cam dig.

Good luck.
