Well I have been shooting trad for almost a year and loving it.  I currently shoot a chek-mate falcon and it's a fine shooting bow no complaints.  But I have always wanted to try a longbow but I don't want to go spend a huge amount of money just to find out it's not for me and the recurve suits me.  Now what is a cheap but not cheaply made longbow?  I don't want to get something that will give me a bad taste in my mouth if you know what I mean.  Is ebay safe, I have seen alot of posts on a few sites that there has been alot of scams lately?  Thanks.

If you like the Chek-mate, I would start with their longbows.  I have found the Crusader to be a relatively inexpensive bow vs. the performance and aesthetics.  There are others, but Chek-Mate will give you a good bang for your buck.  They are a sponsor here as well.

no more than $300 at the most.  Is it possible to get something used for that price if possible less?

Go to the classifieds and take a look around. Some Martins and a few others in your price range there right now.
