My sister, Robin Merriman was just diagnosed with ALS or what is commonly known as Lou Gehrigs.
Even though I am 53 and she is 46, I'll always think of her as my little sister.
I have been extremely depressed and heartbroken since getting the news.  I think I would have been better off had I been the one getting the sad news.
If anyone knows of any "new" miracle" drugs or cures, please let me know.  Otherwise your prayers will be greatly appreciated.
God Bless You All,
Cheryl Stahl

I don't know of any cures, I DO know this is a horible disease, and I will pray for you both. Allow God to give you the grace to be there for your sister and to lift you up as you struggle with this. He knew about this long ago and He has a plan for it.
JESUS LOVES ME THIS I KNOW!!!!

To God be the glory, great things He has done!!!!!

But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

My heart goes out to you, Cheryl, and your baby sister Robin.  My advise is to be aggressive from the start with treatments and therapy.  Find an expert in that field if you haven't already.  Get your sister to tell you and your family what she does or does not want done as the disease progresses.  Prayers sent for you guys from south Georgia.

MOre prayers for God's perfect touch to bring peace, healing and comfort to your sister, you and all involved.

Prayers have worked miracles here in the years I've been on Gang. May this be yet another, according to His perfect will.

Cheryl,
I hate to hear this. My wife passed away last March of ALS. There are quite a few support groups out there and the ALS society is a good start.
I don't want to take alot of time here to share what I have learned but if you want, shoot me an e-mail and I try to tell you what I learned about ALS.
A good solid support group is a must. Marsha and I were blessed to have a group of women from church that would come over and be with her while  was at work.
It is very difficult for the care giver. You will need to have someone to talk to as well. I am starting to heal some from the ordeal. I will pray for Robin and your family. It is in times like these that we find out what we really believe. Don't hesitate to contact me.

My bestfriends mom passed with ALS in Jan. of 2003...I wish you both the best and as others have stated I pray for a cure!

I think I was at his house growing up as much as I was at mine, she cooked a mean lasagna...I miss her!
