"Beartracker", Mike Gemind, of WV passed on Monday, August 4 He used to test some of OL Adcock's bows for him, and was a friend to me and highly responsible for my getting my ACS, "Someone Special", now adopted by Killdeer (since i went to all wood a year ago).

I received this today in answer to an e-mail I sent to Mike:

Hi, my name is Pauline, I am Mikes wife, I just wanted you to know that Mike died on Mon. Aug. 4th. He hadn't been feeling well for some time. But we never knew just how ill he was. All this was very unexpected. Pauline Gemind

I replied:

Dear, Pauline, I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I never met him but I thought highly of him and enjoyed our little communications now and again. I started in archery late in life (I'll be 73 in OCT) and he helped me a lot and sent me my first wooden arrows. I got an e-mail from him, last week I think it was. He used to enjoy my web site and his picture appeared there a time or two. May God rest his soul. At least now he is beyond all pain and strife. I know from things he said to me that you and he were very close and he loved you deeply. I'm sure it is a great loss and may the good Lord give you the strength to carrry on in all the ways that are needed. He passed on my wife's birthday. Now he'll really know where those bears are hiding from him. I wonder if they won't miss his passages through the woods he loved to share with them. Bless his heart, I wish I could have met him at least once. He talked about maybe meeting me at ATAR in the WV mountains one July but wasn't really into going to the big shoots anymore.

A gentle whisper in the maker's ear on behalf of our brother in archery - it couldn't hurt.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

I never met Mike but we communicated with each other from time to time and I considered him a friend. I am deeply saddened by the news of his passing and send prayers for his wife Pauline and family.
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

Doc Nock

That was a wonderfully worded note to his wife, Pauline, Bernie. I'm sure it touched her heart.

Prayers for peace and strength for all those who loved Mike. May God's Grace and comfort keep them all wrapped in His loving arms.
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

Killdeer

I send my prayers after Beartracker in the wind. May he find the leaves noiseless to his step, the smell of crisp clean Fall in his lungs, and a glimpse of his goal always just ahead.

I pray for peace to those who must wait until they see him again, and feel his embrace.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Bless your heart, my friend - I'm sure he would, or does, love those words.
