"Da Beast" - 1953 Kodiak Static Tip

It amazes me that when you find a vintage bow that is in a fairly heavy weight, it typically shows signs of relatively light use.  I thought I would share some photos, as I have been thinking about taking it to Denton Hill to sell or trade.

Such was the case with this mid-1953 Bear Kodiak.  64", 74#.  I say mid-1953, since it has the burnt orange glass on back and belly, single shelf (RH) but has the transitional decals of later years.

Regardless, it is a beast.......and one that I don't even attempt to string.

The original owner must have been a large man as he had shoes that would probably fit Sasquatch, so I'm sure he could actually string and shoot it.  But it appears to have been lightly handled over the last 59 years.

The tips are still in great shape after all these years.

Cool find there!  If I stumbled across that piece I lumber it would be display only.  I would claim it is because it's such an old piece of archery history but the reality is I would likely end up hurting myself trying to get a string on it!

Great '53 K-4 hayslope! I'll bet that thang will really zip an arrow! I know my 53# K-4 is a quick stick.
