Refinishing Kodiak recurve,What to use for filling holes?

I'm in the process of refinishing my 66 Kodiak,Just wondering what to use for filling the holes in the riser?

I used some epoxy putty.  Here is a link to some holes I fixed on a Grizzly, using a combination of the fine advice I got on this site.
