I'm pretty sure this has been covered somewhere in the forum before, but can anybody tell me what year the green w/blue stripe K Mags were first made?  Thanks!!

I thought they started in 1973?

White / black phenolic overlay is older than the green/blue wood overlays.

I think you are correct, can I change my answer to 73-78

59Alaskan

Yes wadde as long as I can change my next assumption when proven wrong  :)
I think they changed the overlays in 76? Might be 77.  Jack Shanks might know that one more definitively.

The 73 to 75 had white overlays,76 and 77 had blue/green overlays.

Thanks everybody!  I have the white overlay model, and deciphering the serial number to try to date it has me stumped.  Happy New Year and a safe and prosperous one to all here!!

I don't think the serial number will discern the year in that era.  I have read that the color of the ink used to write the serial # "may" be indicative of year in that time frame but I don't recall the details.

Colin,

I've often wondered about the ink too. I have had several 73-75s written in either black or white. I believe all the 76-77s I have owned were written in white.

I never knew that.  Mine is a black ink special.  I'd love to see a pic of the white ink.  Thats what I love about the Bears; there's so much to learn in the details.

Not the best pics, but here is my wife's bow.  Jack should recognize this one.  She caught me taking pictures of it.  The quote was, "you better not sell that or I will kick your booty.  That's my bow".

Jack - she hunted it this year and connected with a deer.  Shoulder hit and the arrow didn't even penetrate an inch...SO CLOSE...deer came within 5ft of her on the ground wearing hunters orange as it was gun season.  That was her first shot ever at game with any weapon.  The shot was about 15 yards quartering away.  She just hit too far forward.

The blue fabric patch on the second pic is actually part of what the bow is lying on
