I've got a couple of questions concerning the 56" Grizzly's.

First, were they ever offered with a factory camo as an option or returned to Bear for camouflaging?

My second question is how do guys think these rate 9as far as shooting) when compared to the 58" Grizzly's?

Thanks

Hobow

It is my understanding that the camo was a no cost option on the Grizzly although you don't seem to see it as often on the later years.

I for one really like the factory camo and have been thinking about replicating it on one of my bows.

I loved the way my 56" '69 Grizzly shot, it seemed very quick.  It felt shorter than 56" but was every bit as forgiving as the 58".  Come to think of it, I haven't yet shot a Grizzly that I didn't like...

Please post pics if you've got them!

I at one time had a 56" Grizz in factory camo. I have since sold it and I believe the new owner removed the camo.

I have a 56" 1969 Grizzly, 65# RH, in Factory camo, with a silver coin. I think, if my memory is correct, that I bought it from OldSkoolArcher about 2 years back. ??? I can't recall, as I have done so much swapping and selling on here. I did buy it from a Trad-Gang member, that much I DO remember...LOL! Anyhow, I left the camo on, as there were not many made, and it would be a shame to destroy the camo, although I am curious how that nice wood looks under there! From the old catalogs, it appears that Bear offered Grizzlys and other models in Camo. I had this for sale on here recently, but pulled the ad.  Although I prefer 60" bows, this one shoots hard, fast and accurate (after all, it is 65#), with no finger pinch. I also had a 58" Grizzly, and I didn't see any difference in 2" of AMO.

Chris, I am not sure if that is the one I am remembering or not. But either way, sounds like a great shooter and if I did sell it to you I am glad you are happy with it!! HAHA.

Thanks for the info. There is a 56", 45# Grizzly on auction that looks like the serial number/draw weight are written over green(?) paint but the rest of the bow has a natural finish. I wonder if it's the same one?

I really think I'd like to try one of these short Grizzly's. I've got a 62" that I really like, a 1966 58", and a 1971/72 45# that although it's a great shooter I'm going to sell it.

Hit-or-Miss

Oldskool, I'll send you a pic and you tell me if it looks like the one.

Once owned a 1969 45# with factory camo.  Wish I wouldn't have sold it-shot as well or better than the 58" grizzly.

You guys are killin' me (lol). Guess I'm going to have to find me a 56" Grizzly! I haven't had the '66 Grizzly I mentioned very long but I may have to carry it to the woods this weekend. Maybe I'll have better luck with it then the K-Mag I've been carryin'.

Blackhawk

I once owned a 56" (red stripe?) version a few years ago and always regretted trading it away.  It would easily pull to 29", was just as accurate as a 58", and maybe faster than most.

Chris,

You bought it from me, I think, a 65# 69 Grizzly.  You hoped to take it bear hunting.

Yes, Selfbow19953, you are correct. That was your bow. I couldn't remember...LOL! I did take her out, but the bear wouldn't come in until after dark. I did get a squirrel on that hunt with that old Grizz though!

Double post, user error!

Chris,

Glad you had a successful hunt with it!!  I missed the deer I shot at.  I was "Thi-s-s-s-s close!" (an old Get Smart line)

I remember that line, and more so...Agent "99"...!

That old Grizz sure does zip an arrow with Authority. I don't think they made many in 65#.
