Is there a special art to reducing the weight of a bow.  I've got an old K'mag that I paid too much for and can't get my money back.  The finish needs to be redone anyway, thought I could kill two birds with one stone reduce the weight and give it to my son.  I'm looking at 5 to 10 lbs. reduced.

I have reduced the width of the limbs with success to lower the poundage. The added benefit is that the bow actually looks better with the narrower limbs. I mask off a 1/16" on each side from the riser to the limb tip and then take a drum sander to it. If its not enough, I take a little more off.
There's something about holding a longbow in your hand!
