Guys, Last weekend I was at a gun show here in MI.. I picked up a Bear Cub longbow.. After getting home and looking on my Bear Archery Cd.. I can't seam tto find it in the Catalogs.. This Bear Cub looks l some what like a Hill style longbow ( which most bows did back then) This bow is only backed with glass.. The belly of the bow is just wood.. looks to be lemonwood and or Hickory.. It has no bear decal.. But does have on the top limb Cub.. On the lower limb has a sticker saying Pat Applird for.. its 22 pounds.. The Ser # is C-3798-B

I just find it odd that it's not in the Bear cd Catalog.. I also called a few guys here in Mi who knows a thing ot two about Bear bows.. They also told me they have no ideal..

Any help would be great..

Thanxs

I have what I believe to be the first year of the Cub 1952. It is very similar to what you have  but it is faced and backed with glass and the riser appears to be Maple. The arrow rest looks to be Purple Heart. length 62" and a stout 60#! I'll get some pictures up tomorrow.

It may be a transition from the ranger bow from '50-51. The ranger is described as a
64 inch lemonwood self bow with fiberglass backing.
The first year '52 Cub is 62 inch with glass back and face as Larry describes.
Yours looks like '52 longitudinal yellow glass.
Whats the length?

It may have been that to get the weight down to 22# they had to leave the belly glass off.

I think the trans from Ranger to Cub also and the glass I think may have been a piss poor attempt at clear glass.I have seen them both Ranger and Cub with no belly glass cool bow Cody bd

Hi Cody
Mine is a 53 or 54. It measures 64" which is surprising as the catalog shows 62". Your bow is similar but obviously older. Nice Find!!!

All the Cubs I've owned were newer, so no help here.  That is a nice bow though!
