I am thinking of buying a Fred Bear Kodiak off of a Craigslist add and had a few questions.  The bow is a hours drive from me so I would like to get some info from you all before I go and pick it up.

The seller does not know much about the bow as it belonged to her father.

-SN# K.4.2641
-#43
-Says Bear on one side and Kodiak on the other (Back/Belly)
-Also says Grayling, MI on it somewhere?

Here are the pics they sent me.

I would like to know the Age and Value of this bow please.

Thanks

Tenbrook

Very early 50's Kodiak from what you can see by the pictures. Cannot discuss value here.

I was looking at that one too. I'm pretty sure 1952. I'm missing that year from my collection and would have liked it as it is the year I was born. It was a little far for me to drive though to look at it.

Good luck!

Looks like a 1952. Good weight. Right Handed. We are not allowed to discuss value here. Most bows purchased on Craigs list (at least where I live) are a bargain.

I'd get in the car now.

I'm seeing alumilam in the last pic. Plus serial numbers were sequential then, and '52s start around 7K
I'd say '50 to early '51
Not a shooter but desirable anyway.

Couldn't see the aluminum myself and was going by glass color. Aluminum would put it in the 50-51 era in that case.

I was thinking 52 also but thought I was seeing aluminum so just wasn't sure.

New pictures.....

BTW.  I'm listing this bow on the big auction site for $10 as a no reserve auction if anyone is interested.  I was looking for a bow I could shoot.  Because this one has aluminum its not supposed to be shoot from what I can gather.

Thanks

Also, is this the original bow sock that it came with in 1950?

Thanks
